Reviews
After having many meals at the White Swan, we are disappointed to give a bad review.
Yesterday we had a table for 8 at 1pm, we had been there half an hour before being asked what we wanted for dtinks, then an hour before we were given the menu, plus we were not given the choice to have the Christmas menu.
We waited for ages for the mains to come, before they arrived we were asked if we wanted to order desserts!!!
My granddaughters chips with her pizza did not come until well after she had finished her pizza, and when they did they were dumped in a metal basket straight onto the table without a plate. We asked for a plate and were offered a small plate which was replaced with one more adequate in size when we complained.
The staff were clearly rushed but that is no excuse for the rudeness and off hand way we were dealt with.
Needless to say we will not be returning or recommending your venue to anyone again.
OK.. wouldn't rush back.. limited menu, one waitress very helpful but another just didn't want to be there (teenage mood and rude).. love Henley and the Stoneaged restaurant was decorated very nicely.. food ok not great
Cosy place steeped in history. Ask for the Johnson Suite. However be aware the chiming bells from the church over the road and road noise. There is nothing that can be done about it. Be positive its part of the journey and charm.
We ate in the bar next to the proper wood burning fire. The food and service was great. I had pints of Tribute that were spot on, and my wife said the hot mulled wine was lovely.
Went for a drink. Bar was nice. Staff were friendly. Good car park out the back too
Stayed for a night. The room was clean and very well presented. Service was excellent from all staff, especially the lady serving breakfast who was very attentive and friendly . Beautiful location and close to beautiful Stratford upon Avon.
We had lunch in the restaurant today with friends and it was one of the most bizarre experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. We arrived first, as we are being shown to the table, we are asked what we what to drink!! Literally 2 minutes after sitting down, she was back asking what we want to drink and then she did exactly the same when our friends arrived. We then ordered our food, within a few minutes the lady waitress was back again asking if we wanted more drinks, we all had full glasses! Food eventually arrived, my Husband and I had the fish and chips, which was absolutely fine, our friends had the roast beef Sunday lunch, which came on the smallest plates we have ever seen a Sunday lunch served on. They said it was ok, the issue was they couldn't cut through the beef with the knifes provided, it was mentioned to the waitress who said 'oh yeah it has been mentioned before, but I don't normally work in here'! Next we received the dessert menu, we all ordered a dessert, waitress came back, sorry no sticky toffee pudding, then 5 minutes later she came back again, sorry the wrong menu's were given out, it's not lemon cheesecake, it's cookie dough cheesecake so new desserts ordered. We received our desserts, no cutlery though so had to wait for that. The next thing the waitress was taking the table next to us dessert order, they ordered lemon cheesecake, she came back to them to tell them no lemon cheesecake, she looked at our tables cheesecakes and said its chocolate and biscoff!! I have never received such bizarre service in a restaurant, it was a total shambles and we will never return to the restaurant.
Amazing Steak, very slow service but worth the wait
We saw Andy Bennett play here again. Brilliant Sunday Afternoon. Very friendly clientele & staff. We highly recommend it. New management, same great entertainers like Andy Bennett, great pub & food. Well worth a visit.
